Skills

There are key employability and essential skills needed for every job. Architects especially require fundamental, numerical and teamwork skills.

Key Employability Skills:
Having fundamental skills is important for an architect. To be able to communicate through different forms of information, such as graphs and diagrams, is one. Architects must use numbers and think and solve problems to measure and calculate measurements, resulting in the design and creation of safe and stable structures.

Aside from fundamental skills, there are personal management skills. Being responsible and adaptable is key. If you set your own goals and can work both independently and as a part of a team, then you are already demonstrating positive attitudes and behaviours. Working safely in the construction sites plays a very important role because it may determine your life's situation. Always wear the required safety equipment.

To work with others is a teamwork skill needed in many occupations. Architects need to work alongside their clients, contractors, and many others to complete any project. Many buildings cannot begin to be built with the participation of architects.

Key Essential Skills:
Document use is used by architects to help design and organize the blueprints. Using labels , signs and symbols on the blueprints help architects to design any structure. Computer-aided design (CAD) software is also used by architects to design structures, and requires skills in computer use.

Architects need to be able to schedule their time to be able to meet deadlines. Using planners would be one way of scheduling their own time. Skills in measurement/calculation is a major requirement for architects. They must calculate the measurements of buildings for many reasons, one being to determine the stability of the building.

Finding information from clients and co-workers is extremely helpful in terms of designing the buildings. Architects must know what the clients want, and information from any associate may give a helping hand.
